Skills And Attitude

Here’s what I find myself telling young people a lot these days:

Skills (and education) can only open the doors for you. But it is your attitude towards your work and people around you, that keeps those doors open while opening bigger doors for you.

I see many students getting carried away by pedigree of an institution, or weight of their degrees. Sure, they are important to get you in front of opportunities. But what you make of those opportunities will be determined by your attitude.

As we grow, we have to treat others well. Do the right things consistently. Not take things for granted.  And grow in humility, just like a branch of tree that bears fruits leans down.

Skills define what you can do. Attitude defines who you truly are.

The former, without the latter, isn’t valued as much.
